Hello

Looking at the various options for the expandable batons I noticed that they had a federal version.

What makes this version different from the others.

Of those that own these which one did you choose and why.

Also I was under the impression that ASP doesn't have a website but if I'm wrong could you please post a link to it.

Thanks

Ryan

The federal is just the type of grip. It is a pebble finished rubber instead of the regular hard foam.

Search Asp here and in the Tactics and Training area and I think you will find a lot of info.

I prefer the 21" lightweight. I have found that a lot of students are choking up on the handle to control the 26" and the difference in lenght in front of their hands is nominal(ie. striking lenght).

I don't have any trouble with the 21" regular weight I just chose to "lighten the load" for the long haul.

The Federal Grip is a grippy hard rubber. The regular grip is a foam rubber...similar to a bicycle handlebar grip(if they still make foam grips for bicycles).

I like the all steel 21" with the foam grip the best. The 26" isn't too heavy. If you are use to hardwood sticks(kamagong, etc.), the weight won't bother you. The balance of the 26" is what I don't like. It just doesn't feel right. Of course, it won't "feel right" to the bad guy on the receiving end of it either. :D

Thanks for the help guys. I'm probably going to be getting one of the 21" airweight ones. I prefer the lighter weight because I really don't like so much dangling off my belt and 21" seems like the perfect length. Thanks again.

Dont let it dangle, get the 2-way carry asp holder from asp, carries it closed or open, and carries it high no dangling. only one things meant to dangle below your belt.

:D That was pretty funny...

Another vote for the 21", it's the best all rounder. The bigger ones are hard to conceal and cause havoc if you use them in confined spaces.

If you have to tuck it down your jeans, then the hooked end cap is best. Batonsaver

I love endcaps with crests, they leave such a cute calling card on people's foreheads.

Does the airweight model rattle when in the closed position? I have a 16" steel regular model and it rattles when I walk.

I think they all rattle a little.
