ASP battons ..Florida

Its my understanding of the law in Florida that you can carry the ASP on private property, but if you want to carry it on the street you must have a concealed carry permit. The reason being that it is a type of club, kosh, or sap.

With a Florida CWFL (Concealed Weapon or Firearm License), one can carry dang near anything. Per FS 790.06, the only thing one may not carry concealed with a CWFL is a machine gun, so keep your Micro Uzi at home in the gun safe. ;^{)

Without a CWFL? I'd advise against it. Also, get a copy of Jon Gutmacher's Firearms: Law, Use and Ownership".

See Florida Statutes online.

FS 790.001 - "Concealed weapon" means any dirk, metallic knuckles, slungshot, billie, tear gas gun, chemical weapon or device, or other deadly weapon carried on or about a person in such a manner as to conceal the weapon from the ordinary sight of another person.

FS 790.01 - Except as provided in subsection (4), a person who carries a concealed weapon or electric weapon or device on or about his or her person commits a misdemeanor of the first degree, punishable as provided in s. 775.082 or s. 775.083.
