I have an ASP defender pepper spray. I was wondering has anyone ever used this brand or have gotten hit with this brand? How does it compare to othres?

If someone is blocking your exit and you hit them with pepper spray will they be easy to pass through? Say they are standing in a doorway.. you hit them with pepper spray...

If I run through a cloud of my own pepper spray.. will i be slowed down afterwards? Will I be able ot keep both my eyes opened easily?

The asp defender (Key, Palm, Street) are nice because they're very slim. You don't need a bulky holster or feel like you have a can of coke in your pocket.

That being said, from what I understand their range is relatively short, and it does not have the SHU that Fox pepper spray has. So it's not the hottest, and isn't the longest range, but it's useful because of it's size. You can buy test cartridges from ASP and test out the range if you want :)

I don't have one yet, but I plan on getting one. The two longer versions can possibly be used as a kubotan as well, I would imagine.

You will almost always get a bit of spray after using any pepper spray, especially if you're inside, or you're trying to spray someone that's in your way (thus having to walk past him afterwards). It's a good idea to carry decontamination wipes which should help get you good to go again.

The effect of any pepper spray is impossible to predict, for a variety of reasons. Some people are totally incapacitated by it, while others can put it on their tortilla chips without a reaction. If the wind is blowing at you, you might get more of it than your intended target. Whenever you use a pepper spray, your best bet is to move immediately in the opposite direction, both to avoid getting a dose yourself, and to put some distance between you and an assailant that might not be wholly incapacitated, and who is now probably even more ticked off. I carry the ASP Defender every day, mainly because it makes a great keychain that is no problem to take with me.

It has a high heat count wich is good, I've never trained with that particular brand but I've heard it works really well. I have a buddy who sprayed his dogs with it a few times and he said it slammed their eyes shut fairly quickly so I would say it works well against humans especially since we have tear ducts.

I used mine on an Atlanta street in full view of a cop (if he'd been looking).
Drugged up bum charged out of an alley at me--he'd been heckling me for quite awhile. I had my ASP Defender in hand. He was running at me and yelling. I shot him in the face at about 3 feet.
1. He shut up.
2. He covered his eyes with his hand.
3. He turned around and went back in the alley and disappeared.
4. The cop kept on talking with a girl across the street.
What an advantage!
A gun would have worked. Also would have attracted mega attention and gotten me in a world of s**t.
I was carrying a nice knife but what if you cut him, he has AIDS and bleed on you?
My state trooper son in law sold me on the ASP, but it took real combat to make me a believer. Amen.
