Any way, it turned out nice. Osage Orange, hard as a rock. 23" from the top of the leather handle grip to the tip, and it's 1-1/4" in dia.

Watcha think?

Rayban that stick is pretty slick! I have been wanting to make something like that to carry around in my truck for "checking the tire pressure"

Frank I like that!! Hope you don't mind but for now on I'm calling it my" Mo Town tire pressure checker".!!

good thing you have those Wayne County police and sheriffs who don't worry about that sorta stuff....elsewhere in MI that sort of thing is illegal.

They make torque wrenches up to 3' length. They're easier to use than the little ones. Remember, you need to tighten your lug nuts a few thousand miles after you get your tires rotated, for safety reasons.

I've always thought it was a good idea to keep a torque wrench in the car so that I can tighten them up when needed at a gas station...

Really nice looking stick! What kind of stain or coating did you put on it?

....so is anything I would use it for.....

When I was limping along with my old Oldsmobile on its last legs, the AC compressor clutch didn't reliably disengage when you shut down the engine. If you left the AC on as you turned the engine off, there was a possibility -- maybe one-in-four -- that the compressor clutch wouldn't disengage which would make restarting the car impossible since the starter couldn't crank the engine and turn the AC compressor at the same time... at least not enough to get the engine started. My usual procedure was to turn off the AC and listen for the compressor disengaging before shutting off the engine thus guaranteeing that I could restart the car. But, in case I forgot, I had a stick in the trunk so that I could lay down in the ground and use the stick to hit the compressor clutch until it disengaged.

Ya, everything in this country is illegal now. Everyone is GUILTY! There's enough local, county, state, federal LAWS and ORDINANCES to lock-up everyone.

WHO'S NEXT? When they get everyone locked up they'll start on the gatekeepers because they won't need them any more. REMEMBER THAT.

Thanks, that's just nat'l Osage. With age it will turn from yellow, then orange, then brownish....I just rubbed it down with Danish oil.
