Hey guys, I was going to post this in the Busse forum but thought I might get a broader spectrum of opinions on this in the general forum. I am thinking as purchasing and Assault Shaker with the intent of replacing my Spyerco Lum Tanto (folder) as my EDC. I am going to use a static cord and carry the Shaker in my front pocket as Lum has currently destroyed three pairs of dress pants. (pocket clip wear, took about six months) My question is this: Just how well does the Shaker really cut? I have heard that it is extremely thick and does not cut as well as other knives that do not have quite as steep edge bevels. So what do YOU guys and gals think?

I have one and love it! I have cleaned many a trout with it but I do agree it is thick (1/4").
You can get a pepper shaker (PS) at 3/16th I think, that sounds like it could be what you are after.
The as/ps are perfect on the belt fitted with a mini teklok too!

While the Pepper Shaker may be what yoy are looking for, I never held one so I cannot comment. I do however own and regularly carry the Assault Shaker and find it to be a thick string hunk of INFI that can cut! I wear it as a neck knife and do not even know I am carrying it. If you are going to use the knife frequently and in the presence of others, your plans may work better, but I like my as a necker.

I wear my AS as a neck knife and in my front pocket as you've explained. It works great, fits easily in the pocket and it does cut.
It's especially useful because I can also pry with it and do many other things that I wouldn't do with a folder.

Carried one every day that Brian_T gave me last year. It's a great little knife, always used the neck knife carry method and never knew it was there until needed. Even thought it's 1/4" stock the blade has a very utilitarian blade style, it should serve you needs well 
Pepper shaker is a great knife also, had one for the last two weeks or so, had to part with it unfortunately. It's 3/16" and has the new Busse B.A.T., but the Assault Shaker can stand right next to it with performance abilities without question. There is also a huge price different between the AS and PS which factors into purchases.
