Assault Shaker question...

Hello,
I'm a newbie to the Busse knives scene and I had a question about the assault shaker. I wanted a smaller fb that I could carry IWB or in a cargo pocket if need be. Missouri laws as my LEO neighbor explained to me dictate that you can carry a fixed blade as long as it is not in a conspicuous place (ex. on a belt, ironically ) At any rate, I was just wondering how it carried (other than neck carry) and how well it serves as an EDC. I have carried tons of different folders and I've decided now is the time to try something new. The assault shaker seems like an awesome little knife and at the right price too!
Thanks everyone,
Matt

Jazzman, the Shaker is a great EDC knife! It'll easily fit in any pocket or pouch you can find:cool:

Although I don't particularly care for the neck carry method, after you have it on for a while you don't really notice that it's there:)

I am still in search for an alternative way to carry it in a pocket or on a belt but haven't had the time to play with those ideas yet:)

The A.S. is a great little knife. It is a tough hunk of INFI however and for the first fifteen minutes in hangs aroiund your neck it seems a tad heavy; after a half hour it no longer seems heavy. Not much later, it disappears. You would be surprised at how many times a grab for my folder completey forgetting that the A.S. is handily around my neck.

I definately recommend this knife.

Thanks for the positive reviews. How hard are they to find right now? I ask because the busse website says that they are a limited run. The other reason is that I am just having bad luck finding them. Any advice??? At any rate, I am really excited...just 2 more weeks for that first summer pay check....:D :D :D :D

Matt,
The AS is a great EDC, and the factory kydex sheath can be easily modified to accept a mini-teklok if you prefer it on a belt.

I often carry mine in my front pocket of my jeans with the lanyard attached to a belt loop as a rip cord. Makes a great neck knife also.

They are still available from the shop, you can call and see if they have any in stock or will be finishing any soon. Here's the number 419-923-6471

Let us know what you think when you receive it. :D:D

And if you do call, let us know what they say?

Tomorrow will be six weeks for me... would appreciate a heads up. Figure I'll give it another week before callin' 'em up myself...

Good Evening All-

From what I've heard, the Assault Shakers and Pepper Shakers are a "bear to work on" due to their tiny size. With that said, I'd rather wait and have the folks in Wauseon take their time and do it right.

Jerry is doing all of the grinding on the Pepper Shaker variant and I would figure the Assault Shaker is just as challenging for the rest of the Busse staff. The link above shows one being held, it really is not much bigger than your hand.

Jazzman, one thing you might want to consider is that the Assault Shaker has the asymetrical edge while the Pepper Shaker has a hollow grind. Either one is "as strong as the day is long" for normal use.

If anyone has any other information or hears news from the factory or Contender, that would be helpful to Forumites considering a purchase.

Good Evening Everyone-

Forgot this part...and with BLADE right around the corner, the factory is likely concentrating on the "mainstream" knives along the lines of Natural Outlaw, Steel Heart E, and Battle Mistress E.

That's my other theory and I'm stickin' to it.

Thanks fellas. I will ordering in about 3 weeks as my next paycheck clears the bank! I will post my thoughts!

Good Evening Everyone-

Jazzman, from everything that I've read on these forums, your credit card will be billed when the knife ships...not when it is ordered.

Jerry had mentioned in a post that the only exception is if you order a knife online. The software currently in place will immediately place a charge on your credit card. The knife would still ship under the normal delivery schedule.

You may want to place a telephone call out to Ohio to get your Assault Shaker order "queued-up" and then your card will be charged a little bit further down the road. They're very helpful on the phone.

Additionally, you'll get a better idea of the AS & PS production schedules since you would be contacting the source.

That's good news..well..I MIGHT already have one lined up...crossin' them fingers;) ;)
Thanks,
Matt

Good Evening Everyone-

Saw that Terrapin Flyer had sent the other "Assault Shaker & Pepper Shaker thread" back to the top.

Maybe we'll get some increased traction with two threads!

In serious news, I did send an e-mail to Wauseon to see if there is any news. Might make sense to see what feedback we can learn from Contender (marc@bussecombat.com) given his responsibility for the Busse Custom Shop.

I'll keep you guys posted if I hear anything.

I've been waiting for the PS since March 21 and the AS since April 8. I've talked with Jerry several times. He says it's a tough grind and to be patient. If your impatient like me, I'd say go for one of the big knives they ship pretty quick. I, by the way, have been charged for both knives on my VISA. EC

Ed,
I'm sure they are running a little behind trying to get ready for the Blade show. Hopefully, you will get your knives soon. And the wait is soon forgotten once you have that INFI in your hand.

Good Evening Everyone-

The majority of the Busses staff is likely attending BLADE now, but I'd have to imagine they'll address requests for the smallest Busse (Assault Shaker & Pepper Shaker) in the current lineup upon their return.
