Hey, guys. Considering replacing my daily folder (at least sometimes) with a small fixed blade -- and since I want the best, naturally I came here.

Couple of questions about the Assault Shaker:

1. The Busse web site, in the FAQ and the AS info page, has two different blade lengths -- one says 2.25, one says 2.5. Which is it?

2. Anyone carry one someway that ISN'T around your neck? Thinking either in the pocket (probably in the neck sheath), tied to a belt loop, or getting a sheath custom made (Hi Normark) with a pocket clip on it. Anybody done anything with this?

Also any general thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
James

Not sure about different blade lengths. I use mine as an EDC with
a Buy Brown belt sheath with Tek-Lok,the sheath can also be worn
around the neck.

I'm never sure about blade lengths as people tak etheir measurements from different places.

As to the means of carry, I usuall go with it around my necy if I have a folder or other knife with me for mst tasks. The sheath and cord of the AS really lend itself to attachment to one's belt (slip though loop) and front pocket pacement. With the cord adjusted (by knoew or cutting) to an appropriate length, you would pull the knife from your pocket, reach the end of your rope, so to speak, and the knife is deployed. The cord would hold the sheath in an out of the way yet convenient location for the re-sheathing.

Great little knife.

I've attached a picture that will hopefully answer the blade length question.

Regarding the carry options, I have frequently taken the Neck sheath off and put it in my pocket or IWB using the paracord to tie to my belt or belt loop. The factory sheath is small and very versatile, and I think with very little work it easily could be equiped with a Tek-lok for belt carry.

Hi James...

I have just recently aquired an AS. I will admit that I purchased it more out of 'INFI aquasition sickness' than want or need, but, I am sooooo glad I did. I often flyfish and go on small hikes for a couple of days where I need a small tuff lil knife (and usually travel light so do not want anything too big or heavy).

The AS fitted the requirement like a glove! I love the thing. It is small....but big enough to handle all chores that I needed it to do on these small hikes. I too have just been playing around with various different carry methods and one easy way that I like is a small length of paracord tied through the eyelets, one to the other. This makes for a strong 'side draw' sheath (put through a normal width belt) using the original and it does not even get in the way when sitting down etc.

Buy one, you will not regret it. And hey! You have me now thinking about changing my EDC from a commander to the AS!

Busse at work! ....A very dangerous situation for productivity........ :D

Thanks for all your help, guys. Ordered one two days ago, largely because of your comments.

Three to six weeks never seemed like such a long time...

For those wanting to carry their AS or any other sheath IWB, check out the Pull-Dot Straps from Blade-Tech. http://shop.blade-tech.com/merchant.ihtml?pid=239&step=4 One of these handy straps works extremely well for IWB carry. They are very strong, belt size adjustable, and grippy enough to keep the strap from sliding around on your belt. The snap is secure enough that it will not come open accidentally.

The only downside of the Pull-Dot straps I've found is that, like any single-point-of-contact belt attachment system, if the sheath is not constrained it can swing around. What this means is that if you move the sheath from IWB to outside the pant wear, the sheath can swing around to some degree (an exceedingly small degree with a sheath as small as the AS sheath).
