Don't ever take apart a buck knife ;) , send it to the factory for the lifetime warranty... Disassembly usually voids the warranty I believe. Good luck!

well i got it back together....wow, it snaps alot better now but that was about 2.5 hrs that could've been spent elsewhere

Tricker,

Did you do any photo's...??? That would have been nice for all to see. Disassembly...Exploded view...reassembly. Oh can you share any lessons learned from your handy work?

i didn't take any photos as i didn't expect it to be quite as much of a beast as it turned out to be, nor did i think i was gonna get it back correctly once the 30 pieces where on the floor.....

if you didn't know the ASAP series have two spring(one on each side on the blade)...great for opening, horrible for reassembly......to get the second one in is what took me like 15 tries....but the thing opens with only one spring engaged, just not as strong and thats how you know one has came off......next to that getting the cam lined up correctly was also a little frustrating...THIS is why it wouldn't close without the safety.....if you experience this during reassembly your cam is upside down...a picture would be great but i will try to describe....the nib on the cam needs to be up under tension....it fits together quite nicely with the nib down with no tension, but it will not disegage the spring when closed......if anyone decides to take on this task i would do it AT YOUR OWN RISK, and as a last ditch effort to clean this knife.............if anyone has specific question i am willing to help

How about retry it so we can have pics :D

Congrats on getting it together, your the first to post on blade forums in the last few years to get it ;) Most have sent it back :)

sending it back would've probly been the smarter thing to do......its just i save money ANYWHERE i can.......determination is better than intelligence in some cases
