Assembling a lock back folder kit. Are there any tutorials?

I've had a request for my first lock back knife from a co-worker. I have found a nice kit from TKS and it's en route. While waiting for it to arrive, I've been trying to brush up on what it will take to assemble this knife properly. I found a couple tutorials on building a lock back from scratch, which I think I can use if I skip ahead to the completed parts section.

Are there any tutorials or instructional pages out there on assembling a lock back kit? I'm hoping that there is at least some form of instruction sheet that comes with it. I am confident that I can complete the knife properly, but a little help from documents always makes it better.

Thanks for any help you can be.

I think pin peening will be your biggest skill to master first.

try searching on that & practising on scrap first.

You think correctly sir :). I have been searching and reading most of the afternoon on peening. The bolsters on this kit are nickel silver, as are the pins, so I hope they won't be too hard to set. I have some scrap that I can mess with as practice too.

Hmm, I have a 10% discount at Lowe's, might go see if they carry them! Thanks for the heads up on that!

I highly recommend the kits from knifekits.com . They have many that are very nice and assemble with small screws and precision pivots. This allows assembly/disassembly while making the knife, and makes adjustments of blade tension easy. They also sell all the tools and supplies needed to make a folder or fixed blade kit. They have tutorials on their site, as well as sell a DVD on assembling a kit knife, IIRC.
