Are there any assenbly/dis-assembly instructions for LB7s? Or a good way to clean them? I have a couple that have good snap when they open but not when closing. I've tried oiling them but that doesn't seem to do much good. Any suggestion would be greatly appreciated.

I have one that did the same thing. On mine it appeared that the liners were not parallel to each other. In other words, if the knife was closed and you looked at it from the end where the blade pivot is, one side looked higher than the other. I laid it on an old leather belt and whacked it a couple of times with a rubber mallet and got it to straighten out some and it seemed to help. In my case, the misalignment was causing it to open at a slight angle and the back of the blade was dragging against the liner. Hope this helps.

If you have a drill press and some brass pin stock you can take them apart.
They can be a bear if you don't know what you are doing.
You will have to peen the new pins and grind & sand them down so you can polish the bolsters.

You might try blowing it out with Birchwood Casey gun cleaner, bolw it out with an air compressor then lube it.

You would not believe the crap I have cleaned out of knives!! :barf:

Dale, i am not familiar with a "Birchwood Casey gun cleaner". could you show a pic or do you know of an on-line source for one ?
thanks, roland

Thanks Dale. i'll check at the closest Walmart(2 hrs drive away) but few people have guns here in Canada so they may have v. little in the way of gun related supplies. (instead they have lots of pot growing and drying related supplies)

Thanks to all. I'll try the Birchwood and see if that helps. I used some Kroil and that helped get a lot of crud out.

WD 40 is also good and should be available next to the bongs in any Canada Tire store :-)

The rule: If it moves and shouldn't, use duct tape. If it doesn't move and should, use WD-40. :)

you might try 3 in 1 oil. i have used it to make new knives open freely while not losing their tightness. also it is a good cleaner also since it is so light.

Thought my little SERV-A-LITE ZOOM SPOUT OILER with its telescopic oil spout was a lubricant worthy of this discussion, given the hardware store it came from. :D
