I realize that i cannot sell anything on this site - yet - because I didn't join as a gold-member or higher. However, is this an appropriate forum to ask the value of the a knife collection?

You should post the knives you have, the condition and some pictures and I'm sure several people will access the value of them. But remember you can always start at say 20% under MSRP and work your way down from there.

Got ya, Google is your friend, or just go to the manufactures site and it will usually tell you. But getting a gold membership will help you unload the knives quick and easy. What a lot of people do here is start maybe a bit higher than the rest and price drop the knives until they sell.

I'm looking for someone who collects various sets of vintage camillus cutlery who might want these to complete a set vs. a buy and re-sell.

Welcome to BF!

Bernard Levine, a notable knife appraiser and valuation expert, has a sub-forum that might be able to help you. Take a look at the info in this "How-To" and follow the directions before posting in his sub-forum and you should get some useful info. Good luck.

there is a camillus collecters forum here that you could start with.

First, as you may know, Camillus is no longer in business.
(Someone bought the rights to use the name, and they're issuing some product, but that's not the "real" Camillus founded in NY in 1876.)

Look on eBay. Look for knives similar to the ones you want to sell.
Follow their progress, check the interest in them during their auctions, and the price for which they finally sell.

Also search "completed listings" on eBay for knives similar to yours.

If you post pictures of your knives here, we can most likely let you know what types they are.

And, of course, as with almost all collectibles, condition has a great bearing on the selling price.
