hello everyone,

ive been carrying a kershaw leek for a few months now and love the knife (just bought a 2nd one to use as more of a beater for school) but ive notice some thing that is getting annoying and has the potential for me to have issues if i need a knife right away. the lock is getting pushed on. im not sure if it has loosened up or what.

any one experience this and does any one know the size of torx for that screw i think it would be a t6 but not positive

not sure if this was in ok place or if it should have been in the kershaw forum

Hi Matt,

I've read this a couple of times and I'm not sure what your problem is. I don't quite understand what you mean by your "lock is getting bumped on".

Are you saying that the safety that keeps the knife closed is getting locked on when you don't want it to? If so, I think you can remove it pretty easily.

Are you saying the lock is starting to go all the way to the other side?

ya basically, i guess "bumped" wasnt the best term. its not all the way over but far enough to stop the blade

from looking at it closely im not to sure if i can get it out with out having to take the knife mostly apart with the way it is shaped

Sorry Matt,

It might not be you it might be the way I'm reading this, but I'm still confused. I think you're having some kind of trouble getting the knife out of your pocket and into the open position, but I'm not sure why you're having trouble opening it.

Matt, you can just tighten the T-6 screw in the safety to keep it from sliding.
Some people that don't use it at all, will tighten it in the off position so that it won't move.

ok thats basically what i was assuming and expecting just wanted to check to make sure that was the right size and worked

thanks

I carry a 1620 everyday, and have for several years. I like the safety on mine, as I work with kids, and if my knife ever falls out of my pocket (it has once before), I want something that a 3 year old can't pick up and injure themselves with. It takes me a fraction of a second to slide it off as I am drawing the knife, so it is no great hinderence. And I really, really, really like the fact that a kid is very unlikely to figure it out before I notice it is missing. I had a problem with mine sliding off when I didn't want it to, but one second with the torx driver, and that was fixed. Mine isn't set super tight, but it won't move from where you set it either. Normally when I pull this out, it is clipped at the top edge of my front pant's pocket, where it sits horizantally. My thumb and middle finger pull it out, and my ring finger slides the safety off while my forefinger flicks it open. It sounds complicated, but it is one smooth motion, and just takes a bit of practice.
