Hey guys,

Well I recall a few of you looking forward to getting an Assist. So, did you and how do you like it. I haven't read anything about it's production model so please share.

I'm waiting for my Assist & Assist II models. I'll be happy to let you know how they are when I see them in person.

I just received my Assist 2 today! What a nice blade! The FRN handle is nice and BIG (great when wearing heavy work-gloves). I like the sheepsfoot VG-10 blade on this tool!

Still waiting for the Assist, but I understand a slightly different blade tip is used on that one. This model (Assist 2) has a whistle in the back-end. The carbide glass-breacher mechanism must be on the Assist original.

edited to correct the model designation after checking the label!

I love the Assist. It has been by EDC since it arrived, and even the new plain-edge Spyderhawk hasn't been able to displace it from my pocket. IMO, the handle on this shows how correctly implemented FRN composite can be superior to the standard implementations of G10 or CF laminate scales.

I'm not sure about the integrated whistle, which doesn't seem to be loud enough to be useful - perhaps my whistle-blowing skills are to blame.

I'd love a plain-edge version (hint hint). ;)

Sal, it's truly my pleasure. You keep making them, and I'll continue shouting praises from the rooftops! (And posting pics)

Hey Hawkbill. Is your "Yin-Yang" symbol from Laotse (Tao de Ching) or from surfing?

sal

The Taoist symbol of Lao Tse is my inspiration. Started reading the ancient texts many years ago. The only surfing I'm involved with is on the web.

Hi Hawkbill. Lao Tse has been one of my main teachers for 40 years. Interesting influences.

Hmmm....

I see that this one is sharpened all the way to the tip? That must mean that the blunted tip either got modified in the production model, or that the Assist I has the blunted tip. Any ideas?

"the Assist I has the blunted tip. Any ideas?"

Tohatchi NM: This is my understanding, as well.

From someone who is a knife nut and has also been in the "SAS" profession for over 10 years, I'd have to say that just from appearances the Assist will fill its roll very well, maybe even more so than the Rescue. However,IMO, I think the whistle could have been deleted.

hey come on medic, the whistle could be used to get those pesky firemen away from your patient :) :) :)

I love the rescue knives, and own every variation except the white mariner and yellow rescue.... the assit1 and 2 is on order for me as we speak :)

Thanks Sal

Well, if you NEED a yellow Rescue... check you email.
