Re the Assist rescue knife: Can anyone shed light on why the Cobra Hood, which is a feature in the VG-10 version, was not included in the Salt version?

Speculation on my behalf: What's H1 like to cut a thread into?....With the way it work hardens, I bet it's a right pain in the posterior.
If it's hard to get a thread cut into the spine, that's going to prevent you bolting a cobra-hood on there.

Just guessing.

Yeah, my speculation would be the difficulty of drilling into H1.

You hit the nail right on the head. H-1 doesn't lend itself to that process. ;)

Could someone explain what a cobra hood is? At work and too lazy to google...
It's this little flat piece that is screwed on over the hole. Supposed to make it easier to open with thick gloves on, like fire bunker gear. I've never had to open my assist salt (without the hood) when geared up, but I've tried it and it seems to work fine. I do see the appeal though.
