Hey all,

I have been carrying a Spyderco Endura for a long time and am thinking I might want to change up and carry something else for a bit. I have never had an Assisted Opener and would like to try one.

I really like the Leek and the Shallot. I know the Leek is a VERY popular knife, but I haven't seen much about the Shallot. What do you think of this one?

If you were going to pick an Assisted Opener that had a blade of 3 1/2 inches or larger, what would you pick? If you are carrying one now, how about posting a pic or telling about it and why you like it.

Thanks for your help.

Kershaw Blur. It's just an awesome knife overall. Of all my assisted openers, I like the feel of the assist on the Blur best. The knife is very comfortable to handle, and it cuts great. There are several different variations, so you find one to fit your preferences. Or, you can make yourself a FrankenBlur, like the one below. :)

The Shallot is also a great knife. It has a narrower handle and blade than the Blur. There are several variations on the Shallot as well, although the more readily available ones are probably just the satin and coated variations.

It's a little smaller than the Endura. Here's a pic that has them both (plus a few others) for comparison.

Here's another that has a Blur and Shallot

I gotta agree with flarp on this one. You can't go wrong with a Kershaw Blur. It feels great in hand, has a big, beefy blade, and it just fires out with authority. For the price, you can't go wrong. And for the icing on the cake, it's made in the USA. I'll take a walk out on our loading dock and snap a pic for ya, in hand.

If you wanted to step up to ZT... 0300! 0350!

If you wanted to step somewhat down to Kershaw's budget line... Tremor, Compound, Scrambler (if it's out yet?), possibly others

Try a Kershaw Piston very light, a larger knife, and reasonably priced, also made in USA. But my favorite assisted opener is BM790 Lerch Subrosa, very light titanium handles 3 3/4 in blade, but not sure if you still can get it, since it went out of production.
