I am looking at a mini cyclone, I like the knife a lot, but I am not certain about the added complication of this feature. it doesn't seem to really have a huge advantage. I know it potentially. limits accidental opening in the pocket.
if anybody really likes this feature or has a lot of confidence in it. I would like to hear from you.

also if you really like the mini cyclone in general

It doesn't really limit accidental openings. I mean, you can't turn it off and then on again when you're ready to open the knife cuz the knife has to be in the open position for you to be able to use the switch. There are some of us out there who like having a manual knife as opposed to an AO knife. Or, let's say I'm going to work and don't want my knife to be AO in those circumstances, I can turn the AO off before going in. That's the advantage, the ability to make your knife manual for those situations in which you wish to do so.

i have a mini cyclone and it has become my #1 edc. i've never been a kershaw type, but this knife has plowed the way for me to own more kershaws. the knife has opened in my pocket once since i've had it. i had a bunch of junk and tools in my pockets and when i pulled out a pair of pliers it did go off but nothing happened as far as damage is concerned. it opened about 1/4 the way then i pulled it out and closed it, never had another problem with it, just dont stuff your pockets 8)

I have a mini and I like it on AO. I honestly wish they had just made it straight AO. It seems like when the AO is turned off it doesn't want to open like a flipper, you have to open it with the thumb stud. If it could be AOed and flipped like a JYD it would be an absolutely awesome knife. As for accidental pocket openings, I have carried AO Kershaws every day for years with the safety off and have never had one open in my pocket.

I EDC a TiZDP Mini Cyclone and I have never had it accidentally open up in my pocket, but I switched the clip to carry it tip up so the blade is always against the seam of my pocket. I always leave it on AO.

I love mine, and I too carry it tip up. The A/O stays on all the time. Never had an unwanted opening in my pocket. The only time I have ever turned mine off was when I first got it, just to see if it worked.

I feel the A/O on-off is more for when you bring the knife out in front of non-knife people. Most will say it's a switchblade, some will be frightened by the speed of the blade opening and the sound of a good solid lock-up. So I guess if your Mini is going to be used in a group setting by others, it's best to turn off the A/O.

I like my mini cyclone. As far as the on/off, feature I like having the option. I never expected I'd be using the knife with the speed safe turned off but that's how it's ended up for me most of the time. I'm not worried about the knife opening in my pocket, I just find it easier to flick open with the AO turned off.
