Ive been looking for a quality assisted. Open knife usa made.buck has always been one of my favorites.i had bought kershaw in the past really liking the torsion bar action and not having to use the thumb stud on blade.now theirs are made in china and the quality isn't the same.so im curious of the models like quick fire and others in that price range.ive only seen them on line and cant tell how they operate.id love to have the 896 rapid fire but thats a little pricey right now.also how is the quality steel on the quick fire as in keeping an edge.

contrare, the majority of Kershaw Ken Onion Kershaws ARE made in the USA..I have a Quick fire and love it.I don't like or need the lock though.Blade steel same as 110.

Most of my kershaw are ken onion like the chive and the scallion. But id say a year or so ago i bought a couple more and later noticed that they didn't stay sharp as long and the blade was kind of limp on the assisted.well in fine print they are stamped china.so i was at bass pro shop looking for a new knife and every kershaw was packaged china.but they didn't carry an assisted buck.

I had the quickfire. It's an amazingly fast assisted opening knife. But with mass production some of them have better fit and finish than others. I'd suggest handling some before you buy to make sure the rivets are tight and holding the knife together securely.
Take a look at the Momentum, its about $25 more with s30v blade and no thumb stud.

I love my Momentum, the S30V is awesome, as is the assisted. I like how the lock hides in the handle when the blade is out. It's a better design than the tempest or Sirus IMHO.

Could you post pictures of your China Kershaws? I also love them but I'm willing to bet you have knockoffs. My "onion named knives" are all USA, and their website states the same. Those aren't China models ;)

I have the Momentum also love the steel S30v but to be honest I'm unimpressed with the Buck ASAP assisted open system. I prefer the USA made Kershaws for assisted open knives my kids and l have at lease half dozen Kershaws. If you have never used a crazy reliably opening Kershaw Leek, Chive, or Blur the Buck maybe ok but if you have used one of those in the past don't waste your time on the Buck. My budy has a assisted open Benchmade and that seems to be very good also but it's not one I carry so I can't say for sure how well made it is.

I did some checking. The kershaw assisted opens that are ken onion are all usa.but i just assumed all kershaw assisted were ken onion.but there are several models that are china made sold at bass pro shop and other places.i have a clash that i bought just assuming it was usa its china. If you look up several models on their website it shows country of origin.

I carry a Buck Paradigm 336. Just out of curiosity I looked it up on the Buck website and found it was no longer listed. Has it been discontinued? As far as I'm concerned it has a very easy one-hand opening system that has never failed me. I think it is a great carry. I actually have 2. One with a BOS blade (that I carry) and another with a damascus blade signed by Chuck in 2012. If it is no longer made perhaps I should stop carrying and using it as a daily knife.

The Paradigm was in fact discontinued.

I believe though that Buck had suggested it was only on hiatus and may return as soon as next year. I'm pretty sure that was said on this very forum not so long ago.
