This exhibit featured astronauts tools at DC's air and space museum. I was elated to see an old Camillus! I wonder what other pocket knives will show up at the National Mall this weekend?

It's not surprising to see that Camillus displayed. Those pocket knives were military issue for decades. I had one of its kind I was issued back in the early 90s, but I doubt it was a Camillus. I was not into knives back then so I never bothered to look. It has since been lost.

I wonder what sort of requirements the knife had to have to be deemed space worthy?

I should have taken a shot of the astronauts personal issued effects they seemed quite ordinary!

I probably was a Camillus. This was issue and is dated 1992.

Neat! If you find more knives at the National Mall, please post them!

Here's a photo of the Case Astronaut knife that's at the Case Museum.

yeah, they say the knives are for survival situations in a false landing area, but we all know that that Case knife was deployed, and likely used for defence against alien attack :)
