Asymetric Liner Thickness on Commander

I just picked up a 2001 Lefty Commander (BT). I believe its serial #1786 (that's the number right under the thumb disk and right above the Pat No.

Upon initial inspection I noticed that the liners were not the same thickness. I've seen several threads discussion the changes in liner thickness that have happened over the years. But I've never seen anyone mention two liners of different thickness on the same knife.

I dont have a micrometer handy but the thicker liner is about a full millimeter thick, the thinner liner is about 20 to 25% thinner. The thickness of the thicker liner is approximately the same as the thickness of the liner on my 2000, un-numbered Commander. Anyone have an idea what the deal is with this.

There are also several other less noticable differences between the two knifes. The new lefty has slightly more dish in the hand guard dish on the backstrap of the knife. The clip of the lefty is angled more to the backstrap side of the knife. The lefty has a flat pivot screw back instead of domed and is serriously recesed into the scale.

I'm not bitching or bragging, just currious about the differences.

Interesting. I had a righty 2000 Commander (I sold it) it also had liners with different thickness. The liner that locked the blade was not like yours 20 - 25% thicker, rather 10 -15%. There was a difference. Didn´t think anyone else had one. And no, it was not the ´98 specs thickness on the thicker one.
