Asymmetrical Damascus Hunter

I gave this hunter an asymmetrical pattern Damascus that I was experimenting with. I was trying to get the look of ocean waves or surf in it. Also, just to increase the strength of the spine with this pattern I used some 1018 for the spine of the blade (being careful not to let it migrate below halfway down in the blade). I haven't tested any of this Damascus to destruction yet but it should make for a very tough blade.

I'm thinking that is not a hunter by any definition.

More like a small fighter.

Thanks guys. I enjoy these first time experiments and glad this one turned out well.

Steven--You're right in that this is more like a fighter. :) I just had a hard time calling something a fighter that has a 6 inch blade.

I have a vest-pocket bowie from Kevin Cashen with a 4" blade.....believe me, "small or medium fighter" is accurate and in no way insulting.

Very Nice Gary, the damascus turned out great. Its cool how the wood grain figure in the handle matches the damascus.

A beautiful knife! I think you met your goal with the Damascus!

Thanks again for the kind words. This pattern presented something different in that it's a mosaic but I didn't want the regularity of pattern that you get with an accordion or tiled cut. I got around this by upsetting the billet end-to-end and drawing it perpendicular to the original keeping the mono-steel & layered halves oriented correctly. That will certainly test your welds :).

Thanks again,

Gary
