Asymmetrical edge?

Greetings all. I own a mini b/strider and have sharpened the edge on my Lansky. I noticed before doing this that the right cantle is slighlty wider than the left edge cantle. After using the Lanksy system the right edge cantle is noticeably wider than the left side:confused: Any known reason for this. Doesn't affect the cutting action of the knife just astethetics. Keep'em sharp

What's a "cantle"? Sorry, I'm not too versed on the terminology for knife parts.

I have a similar asymmetry with my 880 SP - the grinds of the false edge are different on both sides of the blade. You wouldn't notice it unless you look at it, but it's pretty obvious when you do. The more I look at it the more upset I become after spending $130 for it.

Still, like you said, it doesn't affect the function of the knife, it's just aesthetics.

TTQUAD.

I have to admit, "cantle" is a new one for me too but i am pretty sure i know what you are talking about anyway. There will always be a chance of a slight diference in the angle from side to side because they are edged by hand. The variance should not effect the use of the knife at all and it usually will even itself out after a few sharpenings, especially if you use a system like the Lansky. If it really bothers you, send it in and I will have our rework specialist even it out for you at no cost.
Send me an email for the details.
Take care,

Hi Joe thanks for the kind offer. I may take you up on that but in the mean time I will see what I can do with it. After all when you have about 2 feet of snow on the ground in the matter of 2 days and it is around -10 outside ain't nothing much else to do. Keep'em sharp
