I love tactical folders. Kershaws, Benchmades, and especially Spydercos are my favorites. The problem is that when I buy one, I carry it for awhile, and then my Vic Super Tinker always fnds it's way back into my pocket. I don't do a lot of hard cutting, and it keeps my load light while being more practical and providing other tools that I often make use of.

I always want a new folder, but feel I won't use it for long...what to do, what to do...

Carry both. I often carry an EDC knife, SAK (usually a Super Tinker as well), multi-tool, and flashlight. Most of my stuff hangs off a belt since I dont like a lot of stuff in my pockets.

For you, maybe a SAK is good enough. Nothing wrong with that. You just need to weigh your wants vs needs. Especially if $ is limited.

The problem is that I work in a law office - business casual dress code, so I can't really carry a bunch of stuff on a belt, and I also carry other things (like a cell phone) in the same pocket as my knife, so carrying both gets too heavy and makes it tough to carry the other things that I need.

I keep my mini-griptilian clipped in my pocket and leave the SAK at my desk. Honestly, though it might weigh a tad more, the weight distribution and the fact that it can be clipped makes the mini-grip less bulky and obtrusive, and more conveniently accessed, than a lump of SAK adding to the clot of other daily materials (keys, change, etc.) at the bottom of the pocket. (Also, instead of your knife, you might consider clipping the cell phone to your belt if you're comfortable with the fashion statement.)
