At last-A happy sheeple tale!

It's so rare these days to have a positive reaction to any knife I sometimes get a little cynical. But I have found hope!

My Cross pen ran dry on me so I stopped of at a Staples store to get a refill. I paid for it and I wanted to drop it right into the pen. Of course it is secured in one of those bombproof plastic bubbles so at the counter I took out my most sheeple friendley knife, the little Victorinox classic on my keyring. I slit open the plastic and reloaded my pen. The whole time the 18-20 year old girl behind the register is watching. I was expecting the worst, but lo and behold as I sliced open the plastic she comes out with the words; " Wow, like that is so cool." She thought the classic was such a neet little knife, so I showed her the little sissors and she loved it. But what really blew her away- was the nail file. She wanted to know were she could get one, how much were they? The nail file seemed to put her over the top. When I told her Walmart and Target both have them for 8 bucks and some change she said she had to have one. She even called over her friend from another register to see it! Okay, it was a little after 10AM and no customers. So now I have two 18-20 year old girls wanting a little sak classic! Oh to be 30 or 40 years younger.

Now a classic ain't much, but at least it will cut something, so would this be classed as a "sheeple victory"?

Victory for sure, especially since you may have converted a couple :D

Good job sir!

Now all we have to do is hope she remembers to check out Wal-Mart or Target for cutlery on her next shopping spree.

You did well in spreading the Word, brother!!

Just saw you live in the People's Republic of Maryland.....10 point bonus!!!!;)

Great job! It does my heart good to read of victories like this. The people of this country sometimes seem so pacified that the very thought of having a knife  is something only BAAAD people have and use. :barf:

Two down, two-hundred twenty-five million to go! :D

Hell for that price I would invest $20 and give them each one. Even an old fart needs a couple of little sisters....mind OUT of the gutter, please. ;)

....must....resist....urge.....to.....send......this.....thread.....to......W&C

A perfect example of why I usually carry a Victorinox in addition to a larger folder. In the office, or in a store, or in __ ? other places where the sheeple are, a Vnox never raises any eyebrows. Those things slice really well, too! Such a value for the price!

Actually, if I'm not in the woods, or camping, or something like that, a SAK is probably all I would need anyway.

Nah....gotta carry 2 knives (might lose one, right? :D )

Speaking of losing a knife - more than once, my super tinker has fallen out of my pocket while driving, or sitting somewhere. I haven't lost it yet, but it seems like that day is coming.....unless, I can somehow clip it to the pocket it's in.

I seem to remember (I know this came up before, but) a link someone posted for a pocket clip+lanyard "hookup" that Victorinox sells? Anyone know where one could find one of those?

I had a similar experience at a Staples a few weeks ago. I, also used a Vic (minichamp) that a manager found nice to have for opening packages. She also wanted one for herself. This, too, occurred in the 'Republic.' Weird.

Great story. We need more converts :) Wait till they find out the Classic comes in white and yellow and pink and, and ... :D

E-eeeeeeee-xcellent. The converts will help promote more converts, who will promote more converts! Muhahahaha!

I keep the same knife on my keychain because it doesn't intimidate people, but most of the responses I get are neutral, sometimes negative, never positive =\

So, uh... What were they wearing? Whoops! Sorry. This isn't Whine and Cheese.

Hey, you're close!

Ever get up to Bill Morans shop in Middletown?
No - I'm not sure I realized he had a shop - I heard he lives in Braddock Heights - but didn't know there was a shop. I'll have to check it out. Also heard Jay Hendrickson lives here in Adamstown - or pretty close. Haven't run into to anyone yet. :)

Bill's shop is on old 40 between Bradock Hights and Middletown. A little white stucco building just past the Sunoco station.

Jay lives on Ballenger Creek Pike and his shop in in the log cabin behind his house.

Both are great guys and love visitors. Bill's shop has become a meeting place for all us old retired folks who have too much time on our hands or are just hiding from the "honey-do" lists.

Sounds great. I'll have to look for Bill's shop. Not retired yet - but always inventing new ways to avoid honey-do's. :p Thanks for the tip!

I just bought a small Victorinox to put on my key ring a couple of weeks ago. It's very cool and comes in handy. I paid more for mine at Big 5 though! The wife complained that I always had a knife but wouldn't cut anything with it, LOL. Now I look for excuses to open stuff for her. It is politically correct, unlike my other knives.

This afternoon, a package of chocolates was passed around in one of my college classes. It was sealed with a remarkably strong tape. The first guy didn't notice this tape. He pulled on the lid with increasing pressure until his face was red, resigned himself to the fact that he wasn't strong enough to pull open the lid, got a very dejected look on his face, and passed it on. The girl next to him discovered the problem and attacked the tape with a pen. This was an improvement in strategy and considering her options probably the best choice, but she mostly just wrote on the package and eventually looked at it hopelessly and handed it to me. I had been conflicted as to whether or not to intervene. I had a nightmarish image in my mind of people running screaming out of the room at the sight of a leatherman micra. But at this point I couldn't resist fixing such a ridiculous problem. So a few seconds later the chocolate was open and everyone was happy and thankful, nobody minded the blade at all, which was a pleasant surprise to me.

That's why I carry an AFCK or a UTX-70 in addition to one of my fixed blade EDCs...

I was at a B-day party last weekend. I was sitting at a table, with some parents and their kids, The kids was having trouble opening their gifts. My girlfriend mentioned I had a knife. And the parents actually sent their children to me
