Hello,

you all know my passion for small FB EDC

Here are some picture of my last toy.
The steel is 1075. The temper line is visible on the picture.
It's blued like a gun. Sharp as a vorpal and about the ergonomy is
one of the best knife I have ever handle.

Pictures are more valuable than long text:

About performance this the kind of knife Marc "Animal" MacYoung will bet his life on.
Fast; very well balanced, easy to control.
Very fine cutting is a pleasure as your second thumb can be positionned on the blade for powerfull deep cut.

This a great bushcraft buddy but also a very reliable companion for a fanny pack.
The "Fine Utility Concealed Knife" is labeled as "Utility".
Excellent tools can be incredible SD options as the more you use them the more you know them.

1075 carbon steel is perharps not the snobbish steel in the geek bin but well tempered its a pleasure to use and to resharp.
This knife cuts cuts cuts and get sharp in a breeze. (Cardboard strops)

It's easy to see on the picture how well thought this design is.
Ian Grenier is a perfectionist and inventor (for example, he is the gifted designer of Fred Perrin new push dagger series) . And he is known for knives which are designed like high jewelry. His background and passion about cutlery history (from B.C. to 19th Century...) has conducted him to use a Scramasax point known for great penetration capacity.
The blade is flat ground but gently convex. It works like using a zipper as the angle between the handle and the blade is optimum. My hand is happy even in the hardest situation as this baby is the result of year of his tests on ergonomy and confort. It's blisterproof !!!

The sheath is kydex. The knife can be worn as a neck knife but it' ride perfectly in the pocket with Piorek's Static Cord System... (A Paracord attached to the sheath and to your belt)

Really this "Fine Utility Concealed Knife" (OK who did not catch the acronym?:jerkit:) is not only a Beauty it is also a beast of a knife !:)

So, for those who are suckers for little FB as EDC. This one has been patiently designed for you by Ian. And for the GOCSU (Good Old Carbon Steel Users) this one is made like a Katana.

Cheers

Hi Thom.

How are the kids and family ?

Thi is true, I have turned into a lurker.
Nothing quite new I could have offered to the discussion since my discover of Spyderco H1 steel two years ago...

But this little gem was to much appealing...

How is your U2 ?

Cheers

We're doing great, thank you. And your family? Do you still have little Theodora?

How would you compare the blued 1075 to H1 other than in rust resistance?

H1 and 1075 ?

I don't have two knives with the same grind to compare.
SO it's not easy.

Both steel are great on the knives I have used.
Love both. 1075 propely cared won't rust easily and his a breeze to maintain razor sharp with a lite touch up.
H1 is still magic wonder which can be used in very corrosive environment.

I love both really.
Steel is not everything in a knife. Grind, thermic treatment, temper, design...
Many factors...

The Spyderco Mule program will give some answers to your question when they will release two knives with these two steels.

Thea is doing great !

Question: how does the handle feel in hammer grip or forward grip edge up? Or is it most comfortable/secure in saber?

pretty sweet-looking grind BTW. Nice score.

The handle is very confortable edge up.
The blade forms almost a double quillon guard.
So it's very secure !

Thea still looks like a kitten after all these years! Thank you for letting us know about Ian Grenier's new knife and its shocking abbreviation.

At last Parisian Blade Show, Ian was selling is
"Fast Intervention Street Tool" next to his
"Fine Urban Concealed Knife"...:p

French people did not notice the joke but
Bud Nealy and his friends roll on the floor laughing !!! ;)

Been used everyday.
The black finish passed. But the new one is gorgeous too.
Name it "beautility"...
But the extreme sharp remains !!

I'd like to get specifics; blade length, etc, but can't find anything. Google came up empty, as well. So, where did you get yours? Price? Specifics?

Many thanks.
