Well - I am working close to home and I cant surf the net like I did before.
If you nuts need me email me and I'l get back to you soon.
I'll post here but it will be more at night.............

How Ya liking being so close to home?

My commute is only 9 miles , but sometimes it may take me two hours to get home.
This area has way too many people for my taste. I cant wait to get back to the hills, where I belong :)

I love the commute! I think the job will turn into "just a job" fast but hey.........I cut out 3 sheaths at lunch today!

I will finish those 3 tomorrow so maybe working close to home will make it easier to make knives :)

You can? Man I don't think I could!

:D

Congratulations on the new workplace Brian. Even if it does eventually become "just a job" you'll still be closer to home and that great family. And shop. ;)

At my work we cannot use the internet for personal surfing - or at least, we're supposed to keep it to before and after work hours. So you had a good thing going before and are now finding yourself in the "regular" world. Sometimes that sucks.

The other day at lunchtime I tried to check out the forum and I got a "Forbidden" screen. They'd blocked BF because it has to do with "Weapons"... The page said if I disagreed with that assessment and I had "a good business reason" to access the site they'd reconsider. I declined to ask them to. :) So now I can only see this place from home anyway, no matter what!

Yeah, I had it good where I was before but the 500 mile trip per week was just too much!

pre press...yup.
I work with Adobe and layout programs(for the last 7 years in the display industry) so the printer near me is getting a new variable data color press.......
well, hell..I can figure that out!!
Bam, small town boy has a specilized position in this redneck town :)~ ;)

Sounds great. I do the purchasing for a large printing plant and do a lot of buying for the prepress dept. One of my largest purchases to date was for a saber direct to plate maching....I think the bill was right close to 1.5 mill. The only thing that topped it was a new 40'' Man Roland press.

Glad to see your happy.

Shane

hell - I just like not driving 100 miles a day!
And getting something in a similar field was a stroke of luck! :)

Plus, cutting leather and steel at lunch is NICE!

Congrats Brian, close to home is good.
Mark, I would go insane if it took me 2 hours to drive 9 miles  I love being out in the hills, not much traffic out here :D

It used to be even more fun when I was driving my F250 with a heavy duty clutch. Sometimes I would just pull over to the side of the road and let traffic inch on by. Automatic transmission was a gift from the gods :)

I'm so looking forward to getting out of this tourista hell-hole.

I know exactly what you mean! Having grown up in Va. Beach, I can say that it is a joy not to live there any more! ...I remember back in '88 when I was working for a company in Hampton, it took me an hour and forty five minutes to drive from the Kempsville area out to Hampton...talk about a huge waste of my day! ...I can only imagine that it has gotten worse down there as the last few times we were down there almost every piece of undeveloped land around where I lived had since been developed and there were something like 5 high schools servicing the same area that the high school I went to accomodated...population's only getting bigger!

Now, the walk to my shop is my commute and the bicycle ride to school is only 6 miles each way...life is good.

:)
