Ok, CQC-T arrived today from One Stop Knife Shop. Great fast shipping by the way. Here's my initial impressions of the American Tomahawk/Emerson CQC-T:

Lets get this out of the way. The Sheath blows. Period. Its worse than the VTAC sheath...same design but this one has a silver trim on it. Very Uber-gay. Like the VTAC sheath, its not practical for any sort of rapid deployment. It is MOLLE compatible though...its only positive feature. I've read that Andy is working on a better sheath for this blade. I hope so because this great tomahawk deserves a better combat sheath.

Now that I got that off my chest, on to the hawk. Its AWESOME!!! The design is great and the handle is the most comfortable I've experienced so far. The handle is a nice oval shape and the "pleasure rings" add a great sense of security to your grip. A huge improvement over the old VTAC handle.

The head has some seriously sharp edges that will do maximum damage to someone. The hawk is made for personal defense and there is no doubt in my mind it will excel. The edges are razor sharp and the balance is unbelievably perfect. Its light, easily controllable and will become my personal carry defensive hawk when I get a better sheath for it. Eddie, I'll be getting in touch with you.

You can tell that Mr. Emerson and ATC did a great job on the collaberation. A heads up though. This is not a utility/breaching hawk like the K5 or the VTAC. The blade shape is not designed for chores other than chopping hajis. Its a beautiful hawk, I'm glad I bought it. I'll try and add pics over the weekend.

Bottom line: A kick ass tomahawk just begging for some CQC (Close Quarters Combat) work. Great grip/handle. Razor sharp head. Excellent balance and weight. Sheath blows monkeys. All and all, buy this baby! Thumbs up to ATC and Emerson for this one.

LP:

The ATC pages don't specify. How much does it weigh? What are the measurements; length of handle, etc.

Thanks,

TJM

Right off the ATC web site: weight: 16 Ozs w/o sheath
handle length: 13 3/4"
Head length: 7 3/4"
Cutting edge length: 2 7/8"

I'm in the same boat! I don't see any specs on the ATC site for the CQC-T. I want to know if it can be used to chop wood like other hawks, or if it's really just for combat?

Any info, please, thanks...

Jeff

Since I just finished playing with these two in both the outback of Australia and in the studio I'll post my photographs and give an impression of their use.

This one makes a good tool as well as being capable of being an outstanding weapon. My only problem was that the bottom edge is sharpened and when grabbing it by the head, you better be careful.

By far, my choice of the two. The handle's "o" rings are very stable (didn't give at all) and provide a very good grip. The "spike" portion really helped in splitting wood while the main edge worked as well as any hawk I've tried. This one is a true "keeper".
