If anyone has attended one of the Atlanta Area Gun and Knife shows, could you please tell me if any major makers/manufacturers are going to be there? I realize it won't be as big as the Blade Show, but I don't want to get all the way down there, and there be nothing but cheap, no name knives! The website doesn't list very much info about who's going to be there. Just directions on how to get there. Thanks.

Hey Razor, If the Show that you are talking about is the Flint River Gun/Knife Show that is THIS WEEKEND in McDonough Georgia I went the last couple of years and as far as Custom Makers I saw Jerry Hossom(who told me that he will have a couple of knives there to sell), Keith Kilby, Jim Parker, Chris English, also a Couple of Makers from NC that had very nice stuff (I forgot their names :( as well as a few Purveyors of Custom knives.

I'd say that BF's very own Internetional Treasure - Gus Kalanzis may be there since he lives in Atlanta and he is supposed to be picking up a Goatuhhhh.......I mean a Coat from me... yeah... that's it, I'm just taking Gus an old Coat. ;)

James Poplin from Pop's Knife Supplies will definately be there for anyone needing any Knife Making Equipment. I know Pops is coming cause he is bringing me a New BADER BIII Grinder so I will be able to waste good steel at an alarming rate in the future!! :D

There are always several Knife Dealers there selling LOTS of Colt, Smith & Wesson and Waki-Paki knives and other such trinkets. I don't remember seeing any Dealers that were selling good High End Prod stuff like Microtech, Benchmade or Spyderco but that doesn't mean they weren't there, I may have just missed them.

If anyone wants to meet for Lunch just give me a shout, I will be going down early tomorrow Morning and staying until about 1:00 or 2:00.

Yes, there were some dealers with good quality production knives last year. Only manufacturer I recall seeing was Busse Combat. In addition to Hillbillenigma's list Kathleen Tomey will be there, probably Pale Horse also. Should be some well made knives available from some of the less well known or up and coming makers. I'll be there with my seven year old in tow...guess I'll have to do my buyin' on the sly or he'll tell Mama on me :D
Stay Safe,
Clyde

Well, I just got back from the show. Wasn't really ALL THAT. Kind of what I expected though. There were a decent amount of nice fixed blades, but I'm into folders. Very high prices as usual on the Microtechs, Benchmades etc. I did handle a Sebenza for the first time, and I must say I will own one soon!
The main knife I went to look for was the Cuda EDC. Sadly, there wasn't a single EDC to be found!
Guess I'll just have to hold out until the BLADE SHOW!

I took my seven year-old, he got bored, but I got to drool over some fine blades and meet Jerry Hossom, Kathleen Tomey, David Dempsey and sheath maker Sandy Morrissey. Bladezealot and GaryZ were there with a nice selection of knives. Met forumite Hillbillenigma hanging around Jerry's table. A most pleasant way to spend a Sat morning!!
Stay Safe,
Clyde

Rawhide Clyde,

Enjoyed meeting you and your son at the show. Thank you for taking the time to stop by the table, and for investing in the wharncliff TUK. I have many customers who find it to be a favorite EDC.

The first day of the show went well for myself and other makers. Crowd was fair and steady all day. I could not pass it up considering it was only 45 min up the road from Macon. I had Jerry Hossom right behind me, Kathleen Tomey to the left, and Chris English and his auto's to the right. BTW, Chris and his autos won "Best in Show"!

Looking forward to another day, gotta run.

Cheers,

David

Looking forward to spending some time there and meeting some new folks. Dick Atkinson will also be there this year. Rade Hawkins is a usual attendee also and Ed Halligan might be there this year again too.

Gus---missed you again, durnit! I couldn't make it Sunday but had a ball on Saturday. Jim Ragsdale and Bob Rosenfeld were also in attendance---

Hey folks! Just wanted to thank everyone who stopped by my table to look things over and Clyde and a few others for making a purchase. It was a fun show and it is always good to get to talk to and visit with other top makers. Without you the customers we would be out of business and we all appreciate your interest in our work. Hope to see you all again at the Blade Show. Kathleen Tomey

David,
It was my pleasure! The TUK is a real sweet worker, feels good in the hand, great fit and finish and the blade profile is great for all sorts of everyday chores! Already got a bud trying to talk me out of it so check your e-mail about another one.

Kathleen,
Enjoyed chatting with you and I'm really looking forward to the Stinger. I can see the martial arts influence in the design, don't change a thing on it! Now be careful with your training partner with the Koppo stick.

Gus,
Maybe one day we'll cross paths at a show or the river. We paddled the Nantahala gorge on Sunday. A bit low on the release but it was a good workout.

See you fine folks at Blade!

Stay Safe,
Clyde

I am sorry I missed everyone. I had to get up to Tennessee on short notice to help my folks out.

I enjoyed meeting Sandy Morrissey, enigma,& rawhide clyde, as well as Al Elser and several other forumites. Had a great time with Kathleen Tomey, David and Sabrina Dempsey, Garyz, Jerry Hossom, and Terrill Hoffman after the show Saturday.

I think I have brought another to the dark side {TNT wise} with Al:D .

I enjoyed seeing Jerry again, and I really enjoyed meeting Terrill, Kathleen, Sabrina, and what's his name...uhhh, David. Yeah, that's it. David:p . In all seriousness, when you go to alot of shows with a bunch of fat, middle-aged, bald pervs {like myself} Dempsey's wife Sabrina is a ray of sunshine. Very Sweet, Very pretty, and she lets her husband make knives!!!!! Too Cool!!!

Had a great time. I have a new Zealot and Massive Retribution from Jerry, and he has a new toy;).

Yeah, I had a really good time. It's nice to go to a Gun and Knife Show that actually has knives!

Met some great people. Bladezealot and Jerry Hossom have ruined me, though. I've been trying to get back into traditional slip joints and ignore that little buzzing that's been in my head for a while now. You know the one... TnT... TnT... TnT. It's hypnotic, and the two of them I swear are on Tom's payroll.

Well, I guess I'm hooked. Let's just hope I don't end up with a big "M" tatooed on my arm. ;)

Oh, and did I mention I slipped even further? While wandering around the lower-end tables (you know -- the ones that have the bins of production copies for 5 bucks a pop) I found a 98 Specwar. Paid $60 for it (after talking him down for his unreasonable $72 asking price). Well, I fully intended to buy it to sell to support this TnT thing, but... I guess I can see why EKI has such a following.

So in conclusion... great show, great people, great knives. Missed a few (of all -- maybe next time, Gus), but well worth the trip.

Hello to all you Blade enthusiasts out there:
I just relocated back to Charlotte from San Francisco after a long absence. Hope to set up a small shop and also get back to some collecting.
I'd love o hear from anyone in the Charlotte area, esp anyone driving down to Atlanta for the show R/B
