Atlanta Cutlery issue khurkri

I'm trying to find out what actual military unit used this issue khurkri. I understand it's the Indian Ghurka regiment. Is this a fact or what?
The M-3 they presently sell comes with some documentation and an interesting contract, specifying materials, shipping, testing etc.
Does anyone know the real lowdown on this?
The khurkris made by Windless Steel for the price seem to be a sturdy sharp working day khurkri.
