Is it kosher to ask who would be the right person to send my Bhojpure khukri to for a careful and understanding restoration?
The edge is a bit chewed up and the point is slightly bent and slightly rounded. I think it could also use a new handle, the wood on it is cracked about half its length on top.
I want it handled by somebody who appreciates what it is, don't want it butchered.
Thanks.

Recently I saw real ones over 100 years old for sale.
I think it was sportsmans guide or one of their affiliate type catalogs. Doesn't apply to your post but I figured if you like that kind of knife you might want to look into it.

Go to the Himalayan Imports forum here and ask that same question. They will be able to guide you in your search. My choice would be Terry Sisco, this is his specialty. You can find links to him through the HI forum. Good luck!!:D

Thanks. I didn't know if it was good form to ask about an Atlanta Cutlery relic on the HI forum.
I'll try them.
This old warhorse deserves restoring.

I appreciate the sentiment about restoration, but remember, Atlanta has a policy of exchanging khukuris if you are not satisfied with what they send you. I can tell yuo from experience, Jackie in "returns" can help if you so desire. They have them in those plastic jackets over lots of grease so they don't know what they're sending. Others have received entirely different models from what they ordered (Some were happier with what they got than what they ordered). (Search in Himalayan Imports Forum here at BF. Lots of posts, including tips on restoration)

I may call them on it. It was a Christmas gift from my wife (bless her soul) and she says she paid extra for them to hand pick one of the better ones. This is pretty beat up, but the blade should be salvageable even if the handle and loose bolster aren't.
I like the history and wouldn't generally alter a historical blade, but I also like a user unless the blade is either very old or very historically significant.
Thanks.

Now there is a mistery. On one order, I was offered "hand selected" for $10 extra, and both items were fine. Next time I was told no "hand select" and never was. ??? If you paid extra, send it back with order number letter pointing out that you paid extra and would kindly like a better item - "Attn Jackie."

Thanks, I'll have to deal with it next week looks like. Leaving town for Christmas & no time this morning.
