Be aware that if you are going to the Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) for a tour before/after the Blade show, you have to have reservations first, and you will have to supply some kind of proof of citizenship - anyone from any other country, including Canadians, will have a much more extensive set of requirements to enter. For darn sure, don't be carrying anything, and I do mean anything, other than money and ID, and that includes having absolutely nothing potentially dangerous in any manner or form inside or around whatever vehicle or method of transportation you use to visit...

buckhead is a nice area. but the lockheed martin tour is exceptional. check out glock in smyrna if you can!!! but BLADE is going to the best! :)

Years ago there was a shooting range, maybe in Marietta?, that would rent full-auto weapons for use on the range. Anybody know if it's still there?

GLOCK (my hubby is a big fan) is only about 10 miles from COBB Galleria, where BLADE is held. I'm sure someone can advise you how to get there. Have a great trip! Hope to meet you at BLADE, gimmejr.

If you are a civil war buff (or even if not), check out the Cyclorama. It is unique. It is also right next door to the Atlanta Zoo, if you have kids or just love animals.

I think someone mentioned the World of Coca Cola. Underground Atlanta is right there as well, though I recommend you do not go to anything in that area after dark.

If you are into Natural History museums, check out Fernbank. They have an IMAX.

CNN Center is interesting. Tours of the set, etc.

The Sundial Bar (or Restaurant) is on the 73rd floor of the Westin Peachtree hotel. It revolves, a great place for a drink (or meal).

The closest place to look at cool guns and whatnot would probably be Smyrna Police Distributors. It is about 5 miles north of the location of BLADE.

And finally, if you will be in town from 6/2---, the Braves have home games every day that week. While I am not a big Baseball fan, Turner field is a really great experience.

If you have specific questions, don't hesitate to PM or email me...lived in Atlanta from 93-03.

If you want a day where you can do Civil War history and see an awesome natural geographical feature, check out Stone Mountain.

The best Gun shop is Adventure Outdoors in Smyrna and is very close to Blade. Brigade is also very close.
Bass Pro is Ok, but not very close to the show.

exit 269(Kennesaw) just up from the show has about anything you can think of... except Clubs, there a bit south.

edit- Chuck's in Buckhead has a great selection of fine guns such as Kimber rimfire's etc...but Adventure Outdoors has by far the biggest selection in ATL.

I wouldn't plan on going to the Sundial restaurant/ bar, it was smashed in the recent tornado (as was the Westin Hotel it sits atop of). A good part of the CNN center was jacked up, too.I'm currently designing the replacement carpet for the Omni @ CNN Center, which was throroughly trashed. Most of the buildings in that area (around Centennial Olympic Park) still have lots of windows boarded up. I think the aquarium, World of Coke and CNN Center are still open, though.

If you're looking for guns, my favorite places are Chuck's Guns, which is on Peachtree in Buckhead. They have a great selection of higher-end revolvers, autos, and shotguns. And the creatively-named "Gun Store" on Buford Highway, which has full lines of Sig, H&K, Glock, Springfield, S&W, FN, etc. They have a pretty amazing selection of "assault weapons" too.
There is an indoor range in Marietta, which is just a few minutes outside Atlanta. I believe it's called "Ed's Guns", and they have a full-on gun store there as well. That's where I do my shooting.

There is no place to buy knives in Atlanta to speak of, and believe me, I've looked. Except for once a year at the Cobb Galleria Center, and on these internets.

I Like the gun store on buford just because of the nice asian woman i she always rembers me from like 10 years ago:thumbup::thumbup:
:D

oh and if you go the other way on buford about 10 miles there is another lil gun shop, i think its called davids gun room or something like that.

This is going to seem like a strange question coming from a lady...but remember I live in a culturally deprived area! :D Any decent cigar shops close by? Or sporting goods stores like REI? And does the Glock tour require reservations?? Thanks in advance! ;)

There's a decent cigar shop about a block down the street from Fogo's, which is also the home of the famous "Buckhead Sharpener"- who will sharpen your shanks for $5 a pop.
