Atlas metal shaper

I ran one of those a while back. It was not very powerful or rigid, really a hobbyist's plaything. No doubt one can make small parts with them just fine, but for knife work even a large shaper is much slower and less versatile than a mill.
I'd get it if you have plenty of room and budget, and don't need to make money with it. They're fun to mess with.

Thanks Salem. It would have to be pretty useful to take up what little space I have. It looks kind of cool though.

Atlas shapers are also about the most expensive shapers out there due to them being a small hobbiest plaything. I've seen then sell for over $2000, while BIG shapers (Cincinnati and the like) sit on Craigslist for months at $500.
Also if the Atlas lathe I used to have was any indication, even if the prices were sane I still wouldn't want one.
