I currently have shapton glass stones in the edge pro format up to 8000. I was looking for a lapping stone and questioning the atoms 140 or should I go with the 400? Can these be used with other stones. Thanks

I have them all. The 140 is like a wrecking ball. It will leave a lot of deep scratches. But if you need to do serious lapping it will save you some time. The 400 is much better as it doesn't leave deep scratches. The 1200 I use primarily for razor stone slurry generation.

Thanks. I don’t use my stones too hard or often so I am thinking the 400 then

Have you used the 600? Is it too fine?

Yes I have. And to me it's redundant. I have plenty of water stones that I can use to resurface a stone surface if I needed to. It's good for knives as well. When I used to buy a lot of natural stones I used to use 60 grit sic powder to do the heavy lapping. Then use the plate. For what your looking to do you won't have to buy it again.
