ATR & Dodo

They should be for sale online within the next week or two. I wish I weren't about to be on strike for a long time or I'd have them both.

COOL! I've had a Dodo on pre-order for months!!! Cannot wait to actually get one in hand!

...come to think of it, I have a ATR on pre-order too (oh, my aching credit card)...

Yeah, ask your fav dealer and they can put it a standing pre-order (in some cases, anyway).

Oh, I thought you meant pre-order from Spyderco directly. But that would probably make the retailers quite sad, wouldn't it?

I really want a Yojimbo, and can hardly wait 'till one is available.

Does anyone have an ATR or Dodo in hand already, or are they still in transit? I'm curious to see what people think of those, as well.

Edit: As to the Yojimbo, having seen the Oct.'02 Prototype pics, is there any info on how the model has changed/evolved since those pics were taken? Thanks!

Bump?

The Spyderco Yojimbo design by Michael Janich is not the same as the pics shown. The Spyderco version has a compression lock, double bevel grind and G-10 scales. The design is still in a pilot stage. Can't say much more until the pilot is complete.

Mr. Glesser,

I thought the Prototype pics on the Spyderco forum did have those -- a compression lock, double-ground blade, and blue G10 scales.

Or was the prototype not G10, double-ground, and a linerlock (or no lock?)

Verrrrrrrrrrry confused (but still in lust for it. ;) )

Hi Biogon. I could be mistaken, the pic I saw was the Mike Snody version in carbon fiber. Our original concept model was blue G-10 with a compression lock. The production version is very similar to our original concept model.

Sal,

Ok, so it is the same thing.

I think we're talking about these 18 Oct 02 prototypes:

This is a link to the prototype Yojimbo that Mr. Janich posted on the Spyderco Forum. I'm not sure if these are not for public consumption or for publication on another site -- I apologize if this is so, and please remove the link if this is the case.

By the way... this is exaaaaaaaaaaactly what I want. Sharp, low wharncliffe point, super reliable lock, good index finger guard, long handle, under 3" blade for almost universal US carry... I couldn't have designed it better. Unless you gave us a choice of colors, that is. ;)

*grin*

Thanx much Jon. Yes, that's our version. As far as pics go, I prefer not to show anything until we have a good idea of when it will be available. Even then, glitches often slow down production.

Otherwise, we get a lot of "whens?" and "how much?" when we don't have answers. Then people get irate because of the long time it takes to bring out. The alternative is to keep our info private until production is ready, but many of our knife aficianado customers like being involved in the development. It is a puzzlement.

When?

How much?

;)

Just kidding. Knowing Spydie, the answers are, "When it's ready" and "Not too much"

:D

Take care and thanks for the info. That is a truly awesome design. Maybe one with a 3.4" or 3.9" blade would be nice too. :footinmou:

The blue g-10 looks very good. I hope it stays on the production model.
