I'm wondering if the upscale Ti version is planned for a limited run, say 1000, or just limited production with the bulk of the models being steel.

My understanding is that the Ti version will be limited production, due to its high price point. Of course if the sales aren't there it could end up a limited run. If I am not mistaken, Spyderco only produced about 2,000 titanium Lum tantos in total over all the years of production. While it wasn't a limited run, intentionally, the total produced would almost qualify for limited edition status.
