ATR production

I just recently purchased an ATR and have been carrying it regularly. It is truly a fabulous knife. From other posts, I know that this is very difficult, and time consuming to manufacture. Once you hold the knife and see the workmanship, and realize that the handle is titanium, it is easy to see how difficult it must be to make.

Since production is difficult, and the numbers produced seems to be quite low, does Spyderco plan on continuing with this knife in 2004? I hope so, as I bought it to be carried and used. I would hate to have it end up, in my "collection", being a little used example of a beautiful limited production item.

Sal, can you give us any indication of your plans for this knife, in 2004 and beyond (if you can look into your crystal ball)?

Considering it just hit the market last month, it is safe to say that it will be in production in 2004.

Is there a delivery snag or some running revision to the ATRs? I ordered mine in July, and still no sign of one.

We plan to produce the ATR as long as the ELUs are interested in the design. The first run sold much faster than we expected (we thought the high ticket would slow sales). The second run is in progress now. It will probably take another 60 days to catch up. Apologies.

That is great news.

Wow! So maybe the Yojimbo really will be my first (to arrive) Spyderco knife, after all.;)

I am going to ask what most likely will be a really stupid question. No laughing please. What does "ELUs" mean? Already I feel I will regret asking the question.

Halfway there, and with the bonus event anticipation of Spyderfly pics in two weeks.:D

Plus my Dodo and Maddox (first Spydercos ever) are scheduled to arrive via UPS this afternoon. So much to look forward to.

I'd like to know that status as well, because I'd like to order/have one by this Christmas. :D

donutsrule, I admire your patience. The ATR is worth waiting for. It is a leap forward in the world of folding knives. I hope they become available again soon. I would like to hear more feedback from actual users. There has not been any real excitement or following yet, probably because not to many people have been able to get one yet.
