Like alot of folks I have carried a knife daily for years but know very little about them. In considering a knife for EDC what would be the pros and cons of the ATR and the Skirnish? What would you choose. Thanks for your comments.

There are things about both that I really like but to be honest with you neither of them are knives I'd buy.

The ATR has a lock that I just don't care for personally and seems to get some blade play on all the users I've handled belonging to forum members. Its well made though for the most part and the hood above the opening hole is very comfortable on the thumb. I like the nice thin profile of it also but its a bit heavy. I absoutely hate the pocket clip on this knife. Apparently many others do too because for all but one or maybe two times that I had one in my shop to work over for a customer it was to replace that clip for its owner.

The Skirmish is a fine knife and made very well but I found it to be awkward to open. There was something about the handle design that interfered with my hand to smoothly make the transition from closed to open. I also don't like the tip down carry much. As I recall it does not offer the other options and if you go for the Mini be aware that the measurement of the overall handle length is decieving. The handle is actually shorter for the hand than the meausurement would have you believe.

For what its worth, the Buck Mayo TNT is a far better knife all around than either of these IMO.

Hi, STR, would you be able to modify a Titanium ATR or a black ATR to reposition the clip for tip DOWN carry?

Thx much.

The titanium one for sure but the hardened stainless one I'll pass on everytime. Not something I recommend trying. People have done it but they are braver than I with someone elses property.

why in the world would ya wanna do that? if anything i would like to get my skirmish changed to tip up lol, i guess its just what ya like. FWIW its the last thing i would do to my ATR's though.

of the 2 i very much prefer the Ti ATR to the skirmish, probably the SS ATR also, though i have had 2 skirmish's its one of those that just never "grabbed " me, tip down, kinda awkward to open (& i have big hands), talk about a funky pocket clip, i was really expecting to like it too, just didnt work out for me, the ATR on the otherhand is my fav production knife by far and i pack either a Ti ATR, a emerson specwar custom CQC8 or a strider SmF daily, not bad company for a production knife imho, & i carry the ATR more than the other 2 combined, my 3 have maybe a TOUCH of blade play, sure isnt much at all, i like the pocket clip both aesthetically and functionally, S30V, like the cobra hood thingie, its a really slim knife which carries very well but is long enough to use for SD in a pinch, its also MBC rated by spydie (the Ti version is maybe the SS is also.), it has a very solid lock though the skirmish also does, i really like my Ti ATR a lot, i dont know why a lot of folks dont like the clip lol, its not low profile i suppose is one thing,

i like the ATR a lot better than a buck mayo FWIW imho,
