Atr

Hi Devnull. It looks like 90 - 120 days. Final engineering meeting next Tuesday. This has been a tough manufacturing challenge. We believe it is a "State of the art" folder.

Making this knife has really taught me even greater appreciation for Chris Reeve. The integral compression lock is at least as complicated to build as the Chris Reeve integral linerlock, maybe even more so. Making it large (3.5" blade) makes it far more difficult than a smaller version. Doing it in Titan further complicates manufacture.

I must take my hat off to Chris for his tenacity in refining and evolving his integral linerlock.

If I'd ever have to choose between the linerlock and the compression lock, integral or nested, I'd pick the compression one in a heartbeat. Can't wait to see the final version of the ATR.

Will the ATR be self-servicable like the Sebenza?
That is what amazed me the most about my Sebenza. I took it apart, cleaned everything, put it back together (10 min. job in total) and it's as rock-solid and tight as it came from CRK. No play and the lock is still exactly in the middle of the blade.

I agree with Mr Ted. The way the Sebenza can be self serviced is one of it's most admirable qualities, and something I'd dearly love on a high-end Spyderco.

The ATR sounds great. Any changes to it since the versions that Carlos posted photos of? Plus, will there be a smaller version in the future?

Oh OK, thanks Carlos. I have the Ti Salsa - great little knife.

I was wondering if there would be a smaller ATR - ie. a smaller version of the same shape, like the Delica/Endura.

But I guess that means no :(

Hi Jsun. No plans at this time for a smaller one. Just making this one has been "fun". We'll see what reaction and demand are.

The changes that have been made since the original proto that Carlos posted are in refinment and not in overall appearance.

Thanks Sal. I hope the ATR is a roaring success. Innovation should always win through.

devnull, is it just me, or are you hanging around too many *nix systems ;)

Although I'm not a fan of the Cobra Hood, will the ATR have the one like the Salsa?
