Here is one of my latest projects, im calling it the "northwest settler" its just over 8" long, ATS-34, it'll have a nice hollow grind, swedge, and jimbing. Im starting to use inserts to mount my scales, there brass and after heat treat they'll be solder in place, and allow the knife to be complete taken down for sterilizing, and or upgrades/replacement of scales. Im using some black micarta with torx screws on this one, but still unsure if i should use the yellow black yellow liner i have or leave it off? and im thinkin bead blast finish. Limme know what you think! Ghaile

Thanks Brian, im adding a finger choil for detail work. See you tonight bring your parks 50, we'll do some side by side w/ motor oil, canola, and mineral oil for quenches on some of that 1080.

Heres an update no steeler fans chimed in, so i left the yellow/black liners off, got the micarta all shaped out, still debating a lanyard hole, used some 8-32 ss allen bolts, once the inserts are solder itll bolt up in a second, i did add a little forward choil, it feels real nice in the hand. I might bead blast the micarta as well as the blade, tonight ill transfer the design to some 1080 for a pattern, scribe my guide lines, throw down a hollow and swedgy, then get it ready for the batch heading out for h/t. Hey Greg if you dont get that heat treated before I get back will do it in the oven I got some anti-scale coating the other day and will give it a go. If i where you I would just not do to much grinding before heattreat.

Thanks Brett, ill prolly take you up on that.....any chance theres room for these? J/K brother have fun in Boise, see you when you get back!

Heres some pics of my "northwest settler" knife, i did another one out of some alabama damascus, litttle file work, added some liners and am using carbon fiber for scales, ill be milling out some area in the ricasso to expose some more pattern, this damascas stock is about .195 thick. This will be a full take down model to enjoy out in the field, dressing out big game, and these 2 are my first attempts at working that bevel on the top, what blade style is this? Questions comments welcome!!GHaile
