I recently purchased a Buck Rush 2911 (ATS-34 blade) and really like how the blade was polished. My question is would this be refered to as a mirror polish? I was looking at ordering a custom 110 with an ATS-35 blade (missed the 12/13 deadline) but it mentioned it would be satin. I assume it would not be the same finish as used on the Rush, correct?

ps. Also wish they would offer the 2911 with the blue handle.....or silver. aaah well.....

I havnt seen the Rush. The satin finish will look like a standard 110.

I assume you're actually referring to the ATS-34 steel, which is also used on the folding alpha hunter, which I have. The finish is only subtly different from the standard 420HC but comparable. I like the looks of tha blade on my folding alpha hunter. :)

Big typo there... yes ATS-34.

Jusy checkin' I have both Rush models and the polish is definately satin on the 420HC blade... but the 291 finish is much smoother/nicer.

Could the 420 HC finish be tumble polish ? It has a different look than Regular satin finish. They were using it on some models since ,I believe 2001.

It is possible that the finish diference you see is because one type is tumble finished and the other not. I am sure the standard 291 is not mirror polished.
We generally do not like to do a mirror polish on ATS-34 because, to put it simply, it is very hard to do. You never know how long a particular blade will take because spots may pop up as you polish the blade.

I origionally purchased a Kershaw leek and scallion and after handling the Rush returned both to purchase a 291 model. I like the better steel and blade design.

As far as the lock on the Rush, it is solid. Safe in the pocket, the blade does not move a fraction.

Not to trash the competition, but their lock is on the opposite end and was cumbersome to disengage (by design?). The safety mechanism itself and the spacer was made of plastic... did not instill confidence for me.

I think you will be happy with the Rush.
