ATS-55 Endura grind...

I just bought an ATS-55 Endura because I wanted to get one with a hollow ground edge (and one in VG-10 later). The one I received appears to be as flat ground as my VG-10 Delica. Is this something that was done right before the VG-10 model went into production? Or is my blade like the Earth? …it seems flat but it is really not.

I'm just curious to know if such a variation was produced, possibly in limited quantities.

Thanks, Jeff

I can't comment specifically about the Endura's, but I was fooled into thinking that I had found some hollow ground, VG-10 Delica's at my local camping store recently. I compared some ATS-55 versions they had and saw no difference except some said "VG-10" on the blade. I think that perhaps the difference is quite subtle.

Interesting. The last run of the ATS-55 version must truly be flat ground. I checked out some of the older Enduras, from a year or so ago, at my local dealer to find that they were obviously hollow ground.

We changed the grind on the Endura and Delica to flat grind a while before we changed the steel to VG10.

Well that clears it up. Thanks Sal.

I wish I had known this sooner so I could have waited for the VG-10 Model. On second thought, I could always use another.;)

Dude, this musta been a rare find! How many of such knives were made before the VG-10 switch?
