ats34 for a chopper?

I made a bit of a rash impulse buy on a 1/4" thick bar of ats 34. The bar of big enough to make a busse style chopper, and a large bowie fighter. Will the ats34 be a decent choice for these style knives, or should I just make 4 hunter/skinners out of it?

I know a few people that have made choppers out of ATS-34 with good results. I'm not sure what they did for heat treat, but it apparently performed well.

Personally, I would only use carbon steel for a chopper. It's tougher and just a better choice overall.

I have made a lot of chef's blades and even cleavers from ATS-34/154CM/CPM154 . The knives worked fine. My friend uses that steel almost exclusively in his BBQ restaurant, and he cuts and chops a lot with them.
