Hi

I'm not sure if I have the correct forum. This may belong in prac tac as the tool isn't a blade but a half inch wide section of tubing.

I need to attach a length of 550 para-cord to a piece of tube a little larger around than an average thumb. It is about the size of half inch pipe.

Edit:

The para-cord doesn't hold a larks head knott as it come loose when tension is off.

I'm having a very weird visual, but a larks head sounds about right. Any pictures to help get a better idea?

Thanks for the replies.

The knives have a hole in the end.

I've now tried a hangman's knot and it seems to work just fine. I only used a couple of loops, though, instead of the trad "13." 2 or 3 loops seem to work fine.

Thanks again.

You're probably looking for something as simple as a a Jug Sling Hitch (http://www.layhands.com/knots/Knots_Miscellaneous.htm #10).

You could also do a clove hitch and a figure eight doubled back to finish it off. Tie a figure eight and leave it a bit loose. Also leave the working end a bit long. Tie a clove hitch around the pipe and then double back on the figure eight with the working end.

You might try a cat's paw knot, like a larks head, but doesn't slip like one. Or maybe a couple of constrictor knots with the cord ends, doubled...

A couple of example pics with paracord shown tied onto my 3AA LED Maglite. For a more secure grip, the cord should be tied over the knurling or a piece of grip tape, and a cord lock on the loop can help too, snugged up against the knot or tightened up against the wrist when in use...

Your pics are much better than the instructions, Stormdrane. Thanks.

I now have all I need. Thanks, everyone, for answering.
