attaching a brass guard

i know less than nothing about soldering, so i'm a little afraid of messing up
my blade with soldering. would jb weld or something similar be a satisfactory
substitute to soldering. if not,can you suggest a simple soldering setup?

JB weld will work fine.The solder or jb is not to hold the guard on but to keep moisture out.You need to file the guard so it is a very tight fit to the tang. Later Robert
