Attaching a leather sheath to a molle belt

I got to thinking the other day about how to attach a leather sheath to a molle belt. I considered leather straps, slots and using maxpedition molle straps and a few other idea's that just seemed like way too much work. Being bone lazy I was looking for the easiest way, what I came up with is a simple kydex piece with a cut out in the top to fit the top of the belt loop on the sheath, then drilled a couple holes on either side and screwed on molle locks. Came out pretty well.

What do you all think, any other ways that I didn't think of?

That looks great! Much better than my first idea whenI saw the title. My first thoughts were zip ties or velcro cable ties.

Thanks I didn't want to use velcro or ties and I wanted it to be sturdy enough to hold a bigger knife. I thought about doing a separate back piece and using grommets and screws to attach a molle back of some kind. Seemed like way too much trouble there had to be a simple way to do it. I may double the kydex to give it a bit more rigidity and put a slight bend in it to contour to the body.

I have a few of these around I'd use, and have when I was first issued MOLLE gear. But you didn't want to use Velcro, so those would have been a no-go anyway.

I'm just kinda lazy.

For an easy on easy off sheath you could cut slots in the top and bottom
of the belt and slipped the sheath into the belt for a high rider type sheath.
Like a sandwich between inner and outer layers of the belt.
Cant get much lazier than that. Leaves room for more mags holders.

I've got a knife about half that size attached to the molle webbing on my hunting pack with paracord, just laced it around in an X, it is very snug but that's partly just luck that the belt loop in the sheath matched up size-wise...

Molle belt,I'm not familiar with. Would that be something like what was issued with the Alice pack in Vietnam ? I ended up in the Only Airborne battalion in the 1st Cavalry. Drafted they didn't jump but still had Airborne officers in '67. We were issued Alice packs but didn't hump them, neither were we issued flack jackets, thank God. We were Airmobile/air Assault and never went in.
So we only saw our Alice pack when we were going to be some where for a few days (very seldom). Se we wore the old Korean/WWII pistol belt and butt pack and they were full, with rolled up poncho on top with dry things inside. Food/c-rats in a sock tied off belt.
Your clips in picture look a lot different and wider than those we had ? Are they carried in Army Surplus stores ?

Those old alice packs, web belts and alice clips are what I had in the service too. Now we have a different method of attachments, with this particular belt its padded and much more comfortable than the old web belts and you have the ability to attach just about anything you want with the molle attachments. There are several different types, the ones in my pic are rigid plastic clips just under a inch wide they slide through the loops on the belt, pack, vest whatever and then click closed. This pic gives you a little better idea of how the belts are set up. You can get the clips from several places on line, emgear.com, and most knife supply shops.

in the first post is a martin knives surv9 in s35vn a great maker if you have any interest in hollow handle knives that don't break when you use them hard. The last post is a Busse team gemini light brigade, another great all around knife and tough as all get out. That one is a kydex sheath with a esee molle back and pouch. A great setup for most any knife thats not too wide in the blade. I'm not going to make the plates, just the one I needed, its really easy to do yourself though with just a saw and a drill. Doesn't take 5 minutes to cut one out and attach the clips.
