How do you folks attach name plates or shields to you knives?? I'm thinking of adding a name plate to the butt end of an antler handle. Would pins be needed or just glue?? THanks and take care!! Michael

You might try some small brads or tacks. You can get them in brass with round heads like a head spinner for pins puts on.

Fix it right the first time, use Baling Wire !

Well, leave it to me to be different again. I use very small screws then file away the slots and polish. I also usually inlay the shield, they never fall off that way if the epoxy fails.

On antigue "Ky Long Rifles" the BRASS patch box surrounds. etc. were traditionally held in with small STEEL flat head screws, filed flush. apparently brass screws were not available. the steel screw head gives a nice contrast after the finishes tarnishes a bit. Might ba a nice touch to do the same on a period piece. I got a catalog in the mail from a co. called MICRO-CRAFT that stocked all sorts of stuff for miniture model makers. Tiny drill presses! including teeny tiny brass screws.

Thanks Forumites!!!
