I just ordered a Pacific Salt to attach to my PFD when out on my new kayak. How do you attach it so it is secure, yet available for one handed use? I was going to use a lanyard, but then I was like how would I get it off my PFD if I need to grab the knife and open it one handed?

Do you use some kind of snap so you can just yank the knife off the PFD or do you get some kind of sheath? Now that I think of it, some kind of sheath that would float would protect it even more.

I also got a Gerber River Shorty just to be on the safe side :D but was wondering how to retain the folder, yet keep it readily available.

maybe you could use a arms length of cord through the landyard hole, then clip it onto a strap.

Gear Keeper http://www.gearkeeper.com/ I have used these for everything from knives to VHF radios, to... well, you name it. Don't want to lose it to King Neptune and his court, but need it instantly available? These are the best solution. There's one for every likely need. These are not your daddy's key ring or badge retractors and those are not a substitute!
