Attachment Tips for Kydex Sheath

A few weeks ago, I thought up two simple yet clever ways to carry kydex sheaths. My method turned out to be a big hit at the gathering so I will share them with everyone.

This method allows a 14/11 sheath to be quickly converted between neck carry and tethered pocket carry.

Pass the ends through the bottom eyelets and tie some type of stopper knot at the ends.

To change to pocket carry, fold together the middle of the paracord and pass it through the top eyelet.

The second method attaches a fold-over style BK-9 sheath to your belt in the crossdraw position.

Pass a doubled length of paracord through the top eyelet. Tie the ends with a lanyard knot leaving tails which will aid in pulling the cord through your belt.

Make a loop sized to accept the knot. I used a short run of cobra stitch for this.

Run the knot under your belt and fasten it through the loop. This holds the BK-9 in a perfect crossdraw angle.

Moose seemed to like it.

Derek also tried it with a DPX Heft 4.

Moose feeakin' loved it. Moved when I moved and adapted to a sitting position rather well

The one I am using is the lanyard that kept on the sheath any ways, so, the attachmnet method does double duty.

Awesome way to make it happen.

Good lord I am a fatty. Thanks for that. Anyways, it worked well for the DPX Heft 4 sheath. Honestly one heck of a great set of ideas. What Shadow failed to mention is that for the 11/14/24 setup, that cord allows for something similar to what he did with is nine with the addition of a simple knot or two that can be quickly undone to go back to pocket carry or neck carry.

The BK9 carry method was genius! The idea you had to swap the BK9 for my BK15 was even more legendary.

That's about the same way I try to rig up all my knives ;) using laynards in many numerous attachment methods.

Thanks for posting up these simple ideas for everyone to see :)

That's awesome! Will have to try that with a knife I have a kydex sheath for, but hate all the current attachment methods I have currently as they are great at holding the knife exactly where I put it, rather than allowing flex/movement.

So way back when Jordan came up with these ideas at a gathering, and it took off. Now at that time my BK9 had been absconded with (*cough*Pointy*cough*) but it was in a good home and I hadn't really had much interest in carrying it anyways, so I never had a chance to apply this idea to a big knife. After recently completing my sheath for my new BK9, I have to say, it has rode the belt here in the office mighty comfortably. Not any issues at all with any of the office furniture which I have sat in. Again, fantastic ideas Jordan!

Oh yea... This works real well. I'm packing my BK10 around this way as well. It works for cross draw as well as in a pseudo scout carry position.

The next evolution of this concept has arrived.

Scrap nylon strapping plus some snaps.

Works the same as the parachute cord, but I've been carrying in the scout position, and this is a little easier to fasten behind the back.

There's something wrong with the lenses used for photography at Gatherings because they even make me look fat.:rolleyes:
