Does anyone have one of these? It's an attachment that you bolt your 4" or 4 1/2" angle grinder into to use as a chop saw.

Do you like it? Northern Hydraulic sells them for about $25

Yeah sad to say I got one.In my opinion it isn't worth the effort. If you have a vise put your steel in the vise and shape it with the grinder.I put a 8 inch cut off wheel in a table saw. That worked pretty good. I just don't like all those sparks flying around my dirty old shop

The steel gets pretty hot. I built a grinder and used the t s as a cut off saw. I'm sure you could profile knives on one. Make a wedge shaped block so that you are grinding in line with the center of the wheel.

Mike, saw that in the catalog. If you want a cutoff saw, save your money and look for a 14 inch on sale somewhere or a marked down customer return. The 4 1/2" grinders just don't have enough power for knife stock and their cutoff wheels don't last long for what they cost.

TJ, Can you use the table saw set up for rough profiling blades? Does it get the metal to hot?

Dant, what I use most for rough profiling is a Skil saw with a metal cutting blade in it. I then clean up the profile with the angle grinder and then go to the belts. I also have a cutoff saw and a metal cutting band saw and a table saw. I keep coming back to the Skil.

Sorry to say, but yes I bought a chop saw attachment for my angle grinder from Harbor Freight. Though I do like most of the items I've gotten from them, this was not one of them. Don't bother with it.
