Hey,
Just wanted to share my initial impressions of a knife I received brand new from a dealer not an hour ago.

It is the Attack Rescue Survive large utility folder 04 (green micarta and Ti bolsters, 4" blade).

I was really excited to finally get one of these, but now I'm going to avoid them... :grumpy:

The overall feel and construction is very crude, with sharp edges everywhere.
The blade rubs one liner, and it's not a pivot tightness issue.
There is literally NO functional detent, and the blade is merely held closed lightly by friction from something "not right" in the pivot area.
It is very stiff and feels strange to open until about halfway, when it suddenly gets loose.
Lockup is also at about 100% out of the box.
Deployment sucks due to the lack of detent and initial stiffness as well, even when trying to open it slowly.

I'm not even going to bother attempting to fix it, as it's probably a lost cause.
I've never seen a brand new knife with this many issues, especially at $360!

Lesson learned!

I own the identical knife. Can't say that about the one I own except for the sharp edges on the G10. Sanded lightly and now nice and smooth. The other bitch I had about this one is minor but that is of the screws, they rust with heavy sweat. Fixed that too by coating them in CLP. Other than those two minor problems mine is pretty much perfect as for lock up, and sharpness etc.etc. Now if I had my druthers the blade would be sharpened all the way to the back but frankly haven't noticed anything that would detract from using the knife even for that little bit not sharpened. You should call Alex he will undoubtedly make it right. I also don't think he has made these knives in years. But for the bucks spent it should be better for sure. I carry mine a lot and used it through out last summer at our place on the lake and used it heavily. Did everything it was intended to do and did it well. BG42 is may all time favorite blade steel followed closely by plain old tool steels. Good luck and keepem sharp

I'm seriously tempted to cancel my return label and keep it anyways, since it was a grail of mine for years.

I bet this knife is already (or about to) on its way back to where it came from.... I agree with you that a knife of such a Price should come close to perfect from the factory.

The pivot if I recall is adjusted by 2 screws. I took the clip off and used some plumbers tape on each one and then adjusted with 2 torx wrenches. I didn't wrap them cause they are small so just kind of laid it over the screw and put them back in and adjusted them with 2 torx wrenches. Hasn't moved one iota since I did that last year. The detent is very decent on mine too. Not to hard to open and not to easy either. I might put a different thumb opening stud on mine at some point but my thumb has toughened up from using it so much. The other thing is I didn't pay to much for mine off the bay. It was a no brainer when I found it. And like you one of my grails. I would like to get another small one too but again very hard to find and they command a high premium. Good luck man and keepem sharp

It's currently on its way back to the seller for a refund.
Right after I sent it out I got an email back from Alex telling me to send it to him and they would have it fixed and sent back in no time, free of charge...

Oh well lol.
