Hey again,
Im in my woodworking shop and I thought I would make some wood handled leather strops as gifts. So then I thought " how about attaching a ceramic stone to the other side of my wood handle?" Only one problem, I have no idea what glue would be best for attaching ceramic to wood. Any suggestions?
Thanks.

Best is a word that will cause difficulties.

Glue that binds the wood and ceramic together strong enough so the wood fails first is good enough.

While I've never glued ceramic, IMHO, ceramic ought to be an easy substance to glue: it's porous, has texture, and isn't repellant.

I'd start with something that works for similar jobs --- such as gluing wood scales to a knife blade.

I'd start with GOOP or silicone caulk.

5 min Epoxy or JB weld would work also. It should not be a very difficult joint as there is only lateral forces and they are minimal. IF you could some how recess the stone a little bit that would likely help with the lateral forces.

Don't overthink it, I like your idea, and it will be easy to realize. Just get some quality 15 min epoxy, a little too long working time is better than not enough, and plan your work out so that you will have things lined up when you put your epoxy down and clamp it. Measure it up front to make sure the clamp is set to fit properly, and get a good even coat on the back of the stone, and the wooden piece.

Good Luck--give us a pic when you finish up.

Thanks guys for your suggestions. I'm going to try the 15 minute Epoxy, also probably the J.B. Weld mostly because NutinFancy talks about it all the time. AhAh.
Thanks again!

PS: Ive been using spring clamps to glue the leather strip to the wood and that seems to work fine. I'm thinking that it should work for the ceramic as well.
